Prince William returning to his RAF Valley in Anglesey today, days after his wedding was watched by two billion around the world


A few days ago his every move was watched by an estimated two billion people.

But today it was back to more familiar territory as Prince William returned to work at his RAF base in Anglesey.

Wearing sunglasses he was behind the steering wheel of an Audi seen arriving at the Air and Sea Rescue HQ.

It was thought Prince William and his bride would honeymoon this week until it emerged that the new Duke of Cambridge had to return to work.

Despite his status as second in line to the throne he, like his colleagues, had to apply for leave like his colleagues.

He was given a week off for the wedding but was told that he would have to split any further holiday requests – hence the delayed departure date.

The Mail revealed this week that the couple are due to fly out by private jet in mid-May before being taken by helicopter from the mainland to a tropical retreat.

Two Scotland Yard protection officers checked the destination a fortnight ago to ensure it would give the couple the privacy they crave.

The Mail is not publishing details of the location, and it is understood that not even Kate is aware of the exact destination.

The Prince is not the only wedding guest who returned to their everyday life just days after the global event of the Royal Wedding.

Five days ago the Queen was the proud grandmother overseeing a wedding watched by two billion people.

But after the bank holiday it was back to the daily routine for the monarch yesterday as she visited Newmarket, Cambridge.

Hollywood actress Dame Helen Mirren has planned to skip the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The wedding will be held at London's Westminster Abbey on Friday. The Queen actress has revealed that she has no interest in attending the highly-anticipated wedding ceremony. So she would prefer to fly off to some remote place on the day.

Talking to the Daily Mail, Helen Mirren has expressed her disinterest in the royal wedding. "I'll probably be in a little Italian bar somewhere and the football will be on. I'll ask, Can you switch it over to the Royal Wedding? and they will say, What wedding?" the Daily Mail quoted Mirren as telling.

Meanwhile, Mirren feels sorry for the young royal couple. "I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think people getting married should be a private thing. I hope they will also do an absolutely private wedding just for them," the Daily Express quoted her as telling Britain's Mail.

Prince William gives Diana's ring to Kate

Prince William gave fiancee Kate Middleton his late mother Princess Diana's engagement ring because he didn't want her to miss out on his special day.

The future British king announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend earlier today (16.11.10) after proposing last month and says he decided to give Kate the band his father Prince Charles gave the late Diana as his way of paying tribute to her.

When asked about the oval blue 18-carat sapphire and diamond ring, William said: "It was my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today."

Diana - who was divorced from Charles - died in 1997 in a Paris car crash and William and his brother Prince Harry often pay tribute to her.

William and his new fiancee did a photo call at St James' Palace in London, where they showed off the stunning ring and Kate spoke about joining Britain's Royal Family.

She said: "It's quite a daunting prospect but hopefully I'll take it in my stride. William is a great teacher."

William's father Charles also spoke of his joy at the engagement and joked it had taken a long time as they had been together for eight years.

He said: "I'm thrilled, obviously. They've been practising long enough."

Kate's parents Michael and Carole said they were "absolutely delighted" and "thrilled" by the news.

Her father said: "We have got to know William really well, we all think he is wonderful and we are extremely fond of him.

"They make a lovely couple, are great fun to be with and we've had a lot of laughs together. We wish them every happiness for the future."

Prince William Is Looking for a New Princess

Earlier this month there were engagement rumors that PrinceWilliam would marry his long time girlfriend Kate Middleton.

Looks like that isn't going to happen anymore. Today it has been confirmed that Prince William is back on the market.

The Sun broke the news claiming the split was due to his new lifestyle in the Army with the boys where he would prefer to go out drinking with his peers instead of heading back to London to see Kate.

Apparently it was an "amicable breakup." We thought Kate and William looked like a wonderful potential King and Queen but looks like William will be looking for a new mate. Somehow we don't think he will have any problem finding himself a new princess.
