Bogota Colombia Earthquake Felt Today

A 5.0 earthquake has struck near Bogota, Colombia today. News reports of  the “temblor” or “terremoto” dominated broadcast television late today. The Bogota felt earthquake was roughly 80 miles outside of town. There are no news reports of injury.
Earthquake mapping shows the quake was southwest of Bogota and east of the major center of Tulua. The earthquake’s epicenter was in the western mountain regions near the Sumapaz National Park nestled near the 45 freeway.
The quake was reportedly felt 80 miles away in Bogota even though it registered a decent depth of 40 feet below the earth’s surface. Striking at 2:34 PM local time today, the earthquake is south west of the 45-40 freeway interchange, and west of the 25 freeway. Mapping shows the area in which the quake struck is not densely populated. The quake was bordered by the Rio Magdalena.
Also today there has been significant aftershocks again in Baja Mexico felt across sections of San Diego. USGS news reports list the quakes as high as 3.9 striking predominately midday Thursday on the west coast.
